This grouping consists of independently gated hydrants with the operating nuts for these gates in
the bonnet. Some are high pressure hydrants. The model designations for these are unknown at this time
to FireHydrant.org. Other R.D. Wood pages also have independently gated hydrants where the operating
nut for each gate projects horizontally out the barrel wall.

On this model "Special" is cast onto the back side of the hydrant. It may have originally been designed
in response to a city specification; likely the Chicago Spec. This model
enjoyed sales all over the U.S.A.; in both large cities and small towns.
