Unique version in that "I O W A" is cast vertically on barrel.
First IOWA hydrant with a year of manufacture and no patent dates

On the smaller hydrants the shape of upper barrel below the bonnet is a throw-back design to
the full shape (no gussets). Note wide and open nut pockets.
Two variations of means of chain attachment to barrel; a formed loop like all previous
Iowa variations, while the later #1893
shows the cast eyelet which was continued on under the
"Eddy Iowa" name.

This version continues with a year of manufacture and no patent dates. The
manufacturer name and location wording reverts to a horizontal style.
Hydrant model and size cast together on barrel below nozzles and on
bonnet, e.g. 50-5¼
Shape of upper barrel below the bonnet goes back to gussets, but 4
rather than 8
Two variations of means of chain attachment to barrel; 0248 continues
with the formed loop of most previous Iowa variations, while the later #0183
shows the cast eyelet which was continued on under the
"Eddy Iowa" name (see next group below).

These hydrants look much like the last Iowa Valve Co. model 50 hydrants
shown immediately above. Note however, the bulge on the barrel on the backside of
the nozzles on the 4¼" V.O. size hydrants.
