Hamar - Iceland"Hamar was a small but busy firm, supplying most of the larger towns in Iceland with hydrants for years, delivering the last ones sometime in the 1980s. All hydrants here are imported now." 0170 represents "the oldest type of hydrant in Reykjavik, an old German design by B&R, I think, manufactured in Iceland (without license!) by Hamar h/f. These were small 2 1/2" things, all of which are located in Reykjavik´s old town. This one dates from an interesting period, August 1914." 0171 is the "HAMAR I, used extensively during the 1960s and early 70s, as great new residential quarters [in Reykjavik] were being built.
