One of our goals at FireHydrant.org is the historic preservation of fire hydrants. In order to do this, we must document and learn about every type, brand, and model of fire hydrant. We could use your help.

Save Old Rare or Unusual Hydrants Before they are Extinct!

We are looking for the oldest and most unusual fire hydrants in the US and abroad. Rare hydrants from the early 1800's are still around, possibly in your home town! With your help, we may be able to document or even save a fire hydrant from being melted down as scrap. If you know of the location of a hydrant in your hometown that is very old, unusual, or not already documented at our site, please let us know. Either send us a picture in mail, an image through email, or get in touch with us to find out how you can help document these hydrants and get yourself your very own firehydrant.org email address!

Get a FireHydrant.org email address for your discoveries!

FireHydrant.org will give you a "yourname"@firehydrant.org email address for every new brand of fire hydrant that you locate and document with a photograph. These can be any hydrant model or manufacturer we currently do not have listed on our site. These pictures are extremely helpful and we are anxious to get more on the site! Of course we really hope you will do your best to record any information that may be available on the hydrant including the castings on the hydrant, the date (if applicable) and anything else. Please send an email to ethan@firehydrant.org if you are ready for your new email address!

Collectors, please get in touch

If you are a collector of fire related material you might have an old ad, picture or manufacturers catalog that could provide an extremely valuable source of information for dating and identifying fire hydrants. If you happen to have an old catalog, picture or ad please get in touch. We are in the process of compiling a database of these catalogs and if you have one, we would love to hear from you!

Are you a hydrant expert?

Have you worked on or with hydrants in the past? Do you have knowledge or experience with fire hydrants? If you answered "YES" to either or these questions, we would like to hear from you. We are working on a questionaire, but for now, please go to the Contact Information and get in touch with us. You may have some valuable information that we could use at FireHydrant.org. Don't hesitate to contact us about anything hydrant related, we would love to hear from you!

If you have any information or think you have made a hydrant discovery please visit our Contact Information page so that we can hear from you!
